As part of Black Press’ coverage of the 2022 municipal election, we have asked candidates to submit a short bio about themselves and answer the question of what issues they felt were most important to their area. Candidates were given the same maximum word limit and allowed to distribute them as they chose.

Subrina Monteith is nominated for re-election as RDOS Director for Electoral Area “I”.

With your vote of support, Subrina will continue to represent the communities of Kaleden, Twin Lakes, St. Andrews, Apex, Skaha West, and all residents within the RDOS region.

Growing up in the South Okanagan, Subrina has spent the past 18 years raising her family in Kaleden. Throughout the years, volunteering within her local community has allowed Subrina to work within a team setting and lead many community events or programs. Her passion for the community of Kaleden runs deep as does her keen interest in all communities within Area “I”.

As the RDOS Electoral Area “I” representative, Subrina has met monthly with several committees across the area and has built a proven track record of representing the interests of residents by offering creative and transparent solutions to the unique needs of each individual community. Subrina believes that building a thriving community is achieved through increased community engagement, updated policies, strong community building, and including all residents in conversation. This approach has allowed for many collaborative successes within each community.

Subrina has worked hard to reduce taxes in relation to services, is a strong advocate for public safety, supports local volunteer fire departments, and continues to advocate for change to road maintenance service in each community, including the Highway 97/3A interchange flow upgrade. Building asset management into community budgets is a success that Subrina continues to build on as she believes planning for the future is a better approach than dynamic taxation increases. Subrina is a community champion who works hard for the residents and volunteers of each community and sees the value of community investment.

Subrina holds several appointed positions, including the Okanagan Regional Library Board Human Resource Chair, Community Services Committee Meeting Chair of the RDOS Board, and is a member of the Fire Chief Association Liaison Committee. Subrina’s work history includes administration, human resources, and working with non-profits.
