Two vehicle MVA on Highway 3 near Keremeos sends five to hospital

A two vehicle accident near Keremeos sent five people to hospital and shut down Highway 3 for several hours on July 19.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, about a kilometre south of the hilltop intersection in Keremeos. It is believed that a small sedan and a mini van collided after one of the vehicles lost control and T- boned the oncoming vehicle.

One victim was airlifted to hospital, four others were transported by ambulance.

RCMP closed Highway 3 for about three hours. Keremeos volunteer firefighters provided support services at the accident scene and delineated a landing zone for the helicopter at Similkameen Elementary  Secondary School.
