Levy for Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Hospital District to increase by 51 cents

No requisition increase in this year’s budget

Residents of the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Hospital District’s coverage area will see their residential property tax levy increase slightly for this year.

The average property tax levy will increase by 51 cents, from $111.70 last year to $112.21 this year.

Expenses for this year include $3,534,036 in debt payments and $83,050 in administration expenses. The remainder of the budget is for expenditures including capital projects at the Penticton Regional Hospital patient care tower and other capital expenses.

Earlier, the board voted to reject a request from Interior Health for $1.4 million in capital funding for the South Okanagan-Similkameen Primary Care Network.

The 2021 budget lists total revenue of $16,119,286, with tax requestion accounting for $6,447,140, Other revenue sources include grants in lieu of taxes, interest income and transfers from reserves.

There is no requestion increase for this year, with the adjustments to the property tax levy due to changing population demographics.

The capital funding requested by Interior Health was $4,387,200 for this year, including the $1.4 million that was rejected.
