The original contract had been issued in May, 2017 and the new contract does not have changes or price increases other than the annual price increase in the existing contract.
Under the landfill contract, assessed construction and demoltion waste is received and sorted at the landfill. The materials are then recycled, reused or landfilled.
The landfill is able to divert 93 per cent of the wastes received, said Andrew Reeder public works operations manager with the regional district.
The regional district has the only landfill in British Columbia that offers this service, he added.
