Just in time for spring, it appears that the KVR trail through Kaleden is open once again.
A new section of trail has been cut to the east of the existing right of way through the northern portion of a section of the trail that was sold to private interests in 2010. The privately owned portion of the railbed was closed to the public last December by the owners, who were seeking to negotiate a property exchange with the province.
The closure proved highly controversial to users of the trail and residents of Kaleden.
Flourescent pink markings delineate the new routing of the trail, which passes through the privately owned portion of right of way for a short distance before accessing Alder Avenue in Kaleden.
