Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department, RCMP and BC Ambulance personnel were called to a single vehicle rollover on Nickle Plate Road mid morning on Wednesday, July 10.
The vehicle left the road near the bluffs, rolling for some distance before coming to a rest near the bottom of the mountain. “The motor was lying on the lower road, while the transmission was located on a switchback further up the road,” said Keremeos Chief Jordy Bosscha. “The rest of the vehicle was rolled up into a little ball below the bluff.”
The female driver was transported to the Keremeos Diagnostic and Treatment Centre with unknown injuries.
Almost a week to the day later, Keremeos was called once again to the Nickle Plate Road area, at 3 a.m. on July 16. Police, fire and ambulance attended the early morning accident scene, where a motorist had driven off Highway 3. The vehicle was left by the roadside and taped to indicate that it had been checked by emergency personnel, but a passing motorist called it in once again later that morning. Fortunately, the fire department and Kelowna dispatch were able to conclude that the second call was unnecessary, and fire department personnel were able to stand down.
The motorist was removed from the vehicle with a spine board and transported by ambulance with undisclosed injuries.
