File photo Christmas is getting closer and that means the Keremeos LightUp will be happening over the Dec. 7, 8 weekend.

There’s just under a month left before Christmas, but the sights of the popular Christmas tune 12 days of Christmas will soon deck the shop fronts and offices of Keremeos.

This year’s theme for LightUp is 12 Days of Christmas.

“It’s a pretty easy one for people to decorate,” Colleen Christensen of Similkameen Country said. “We’re expecting to see a lot of great displays.”

Similkameen Country, the Keremeos and area chamber of commerce organizes the two day event each year.

Judging of decorations will take place before LightUp officially starts on Friday with the winners announced during the weekend.

LightUp weekend kicks of Fri., Dec. 7 with the opening of the craft fair at Victory Hall and the parade in the evening.

The parade will go down Highway 3 in front of all the businesses.

After the parade the young ones and not-so-young ones are invited to see Santa at Victory Hall.

On Saturday the craft show will start up again at 10 a.m.

Select wineries will be open throughout the weekend. Check individual wineries and websites to find out which ones will be serving up some holiday cheer.
