A dedicated group is making sure Kars Under the K will go forward another year.

Kit Jackson, chairman of the group, said he was able to wrangle a few volunteers to help plan the event but that more would certainly help.

“A few weeks ago the rumour was that the event was not going forward. I tried to squash that and I want people to know it’s going forward,” he said.

Before Sunday’s meeting Jackson said three people including himself had signed on to sit as the executive and organize the event.

“We’re hoping volunteers will come out of the woodwork once the weather improves,” he said.

Kars Under the K attracts hundreds of people to the downtown on the Sunday of the first weekend in August.

Car enthusiasts travel quite a distance to either put their vehicle in the show and shine or to stroll through the rows of collectible cars.

“We have people come from all over to this event. It really does bring a lot of people to the community,” he said.

Jackson said there is still a big need for volunteers the day of and anyone that was interested in helping organize would be appreciated.
