Controversy has swirled about in the community of Hedley over a motor vehicle accident on March 30 of this year which claimed the life of 29 year old Steven Roy.

South Okanagan Traffic Services have been conducting an investigation into the incident, which included traffic services  requesting the assistance of the Penticton Forensic Identification Section, Collision Reconstruction and Pathologists.

Multiple versions of the incident were received by SOTS investigators, primarily involving the identity of the driver. Forensic and physical evidence is consistent with the deceased male, Steven Roy, (no fixed address)being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

There were a number of residents in Hedley who identified another male as being the actual driver of the vehicle.

Forensic and physical evidence has eliminated this person as being a possible occupant of the  vehicle at the time of the collision.

As a result of the investigation, the South Okanagan Traffic Unit will not be recommending any charges in relation to this incident.
