The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is continuing work at Pioneer Park in Kaleden.

The park, at 201 Ponderosa Ave., has received upgrades including the addition of a new irrigation system and sod as well seeding of grass.

As work continues, people are being asked to avoid areas that are cordoned off or have been recently seeded.

The first phase of the park enhancement has been completed.

Work on the lakeshore area included removing non-native soil material to create a more user-friendly and natural shoreline. Erosion protection structures were installed to prevent wave action from damaging the lakeshore.

The second phase of the project, scheduled for fall 2024, will include strategic planting of native riparian shrubs and trees and the addition of a new sports court.
