Skiers and snowboarders looking forward to some pre-Christmas fun today at Baldy Mountain Resort will be disappointed to learn the mountain is closed for the day.

The mountain closed Tuesday, Dec. 22 due to high winds and a power outage affecting the Oliver ski hill.

Updates on the resort’s official website on social media channels suggest the mountain will be open again tomorrow Dec, 23.

“We apologize for the inconvenience. See you tomorrow,” reads a post from the resort on social media.

Meanwhile, Apex Mountain Resort in Penticton was also dealing with high winds Tuesday. The resort remained open but high winds put the Quickdraw quad chairlift and the T-bar on standby for the morning. Both were still on standby as of 11:50 a.m. Tuesday morning.
