Hester Creek Estate Winery is in the spirit of giving this holiday season.

The winery has announced its continued support of Oliver Elementary School’s farm-to-table salad bar program with a donation of $16,000.

It partnered with the school in 2012 and has donated over $97,000 to ensure this program continues to provide nutritious options for students that may not otherwise have the opportunity. The program provides the school lunch twice a week for the majority of the school year.

In addition, Hester Creek is sponsoring the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) Sommelier Scholarships, which will award $1,000 to 10 qualifying hospitality workers that are furthering their wine knowledge through schooling. Applications for the scholarships opened last week and they will be distributed in February 2019.

“We are proud to support the community in our seventh year of giving back to the families in our neighbourhood. As a leading B.C. winery, with deep roots in the Oliver region, we take great pride in our local partnerships and nurturing healthy options for children,” said Mark Sheridan, president of Hester Creek Estate Winery, in a news release. “In this celebratory 50th year of growing premium vinifera grapes, we are also pleased to nurture industry education with our new commitment to the BCHF Sommelier Scholarships program. We hope this is the beginning of a long, successful relationship.”
