Friday, January 27 deadline to enter Haiku contest to celebrate Canada Literacy Day

All entrants of Haiku contest entered will belong to Similkameen Family Literacy and may be included in the 2012 Haiku Prize Digest

 

Three local judges will  choose winners.

Prizes available are:  First, second, third, junior winners, plus honorable mentions.

The works entered will belong to Similkameen Family Literacy and may be included in the 2012 Haiku Prize Digest.

How to Enter: Single page. One haiku.  Name, age and phone contact affixed.  Entries are dropped into the Haiku Contest box in Hedley or Keremeos library no later than 5 p.m .Friday,  January 27.

Note: The classic Haiku is a Japanese form; just three lines with seventeen syllables  or “beats” arranged 5-7-5.  The classic Haiku  offers a season, an image, an insight.

Your entry will be accepted so long as it has the basic  seventeen syllables.

The contest is a program of Lower Similkameen Community Services Society and funded through Provincial Gaming Proceeds.
