Fire ban still in effect

Regional district, fire service point out fire ban still in effect in spite of some recent rain

The Kamloops Fire Centre and the Regional District  Okanagan Similkameen are reminding residents and visitors of the temporary fire ban, which remains in effect in spite of some recent rain.

The ban, which went into effect August 1, remains in effect throughout the regional district. It includes the use of fireworks, campfires and burning barrels.

The Kamloops Fire Centre reports that patrols have fined several campers for lighting campfires in spite of the ban. Violators can be fined $345 for all people in attendance of a campfire and a fine of $230 may be applied to all people participating in fireworks.
