Evacuation alerts have been rescinded for more than 1,100 properties in the area of Keremeos around the Similkameen River.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen said the threat of flooding in the area has been reduced, and the potential for danger to life, health and property has diminished.

As such, the evacuation alert for 589 properties in the village of Keremeos has been rescinded. A full list of the properties can be found below.

The state of local emergency remains in effect for the area, and evacuation alerts or orders may be re-issued if the threat of flooding arises, RDOS said in a news release.

As well, the regional district has rescinded an evacuation alert for 663 properties in the area of the Similkameen River in RDOS Electoral Area “B” (Cawston and Lower Similkameen) and Electoral Area “G” (rural Keremeos, Hedley and Olalla).

However, some properties remain on evacuation order in those electoral areas.
