“It’s Not Right!” is the title of an Elder Abuse Awareness presentation, at the Keremeos Seniors Centre (421 Seventh Avenue) on Wednesday, October 2.

Jean Shirritt, the Elder Abuse Prevention Coordinator for the South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society, will be the guest presenter. Jean has years of experience working with and addressing the needs of senior citizens, and now focuses on abuse prevention awareness and training.

The presentation will follow the local centre’s monthly business meeting, beginning at 2 p.m.

The centre invites the public to attend. The program is geared to persons of any age, and will be especially informative to those who know seniors – family members and friends – and care about their well-being. Time for questions and comments will follow. This presentation is sponsored by PVPP, the Lower Similkameen’s “Proactive Violence Prevention Project”.

PVPP also addresses the issues of domestic violence, bullying, and sexual assault/date rape, in their efforts to foster “Safety in our Communities, Safety in our Homes”.

More information about PVPP is available on the Lower Similkameen Community Services website:   www.lscss.com .
