A crash 12 kilometres west of Keremeos on Highway 3 severed the fibre optics lines causing a power outage in Keremeos all the was to Princeton Thursday morning (Oct. 27).

The accident scene where all the power lines were down is just before Sunkatchers on the way to Hedley. Traffic was down to a single lane for most of the day.

A message from the Village of Keremeos Thursday morning read: “On behalf of Telus, the Village of Keremeos is letting Telus customers in the Keremeos area know that a motor vehicle accident this morning severed a fibre line. Telus will be working throughout the day to restore service. Some customers may experience service disruptions.”

Most of the power was restored to Princeton before noon. As of 2 p.m. all the power was restored to Keremeos except for 230 customers near Sunkatchers.

The crash took place before 8 a.m. Not much is known about the crash but it appears that it may have been a van that crashed and then caught fire.
