Cawston players hold open casting for spring play

“Dry Streak” by Saskatchewan playwright Leeanne Minogue is the Cawston Players Spring 2011 production.

Auditions happen this Friday evening and Saturday morning at The Cawston Community Church, 2146 Main Street, Cawston.

There are seven parts for four men and three women of various ages.

Needed to fill out the team are Stage Manager, Lighting and Sound, Set Construction, Publicity, Make-Up and Costumes.

The Cawston Players welcome all comers to share their talent and experience or to come and learn the ropes.

The players club has been presenting for local audiences for the past nine years. Last year’s spring play was the 30’s melodrama, Curse You Jack Dalton.

Acting coach, Bob McAtamney, associate Producer Wilfrid Mennell and Producer / Director, Dave Cursons, team up to produce this comic romp.

Dry Streak concerns a young woman who has travelled the world and moves with her boyfriend to work on a Saskatchewan farm operated by his parents. After months of unrelenting heat, dust, and the endless complaints of everyone around her, she makes a very public promise: If only the drought will break, she’ll run naked through the streets of the town.
