Penticton firefighters had to use a chainsaw and plenty of water to douse a fire in Lion’s Park in Penticton Tuesday.
Around 11:45 a.m., a woman out for a walk at Lion’s Park noticed a fire smoldering in some logs in the south end of the park.
She told members of Penticton’s Parks department who were working in the Warren Avenue East park at the time.
Penticton Fire Department responded to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The fire had initially been a campfire that had spread into several large logs nearby, said Penticton firefighters on scene.
A chainsaw was used to cut apart some of the logs in order to get at the fire inside of them.
The fire was put out at about 12:10 p.m.
