A fire that burnt down a cabin in Oliver on Saturday remains under investigation.,

The Oliver Fire Department responded to the fire on Nk’Mip Road and found the structure fully involved by the time they arrived on scene.

According to Oliver Fire Department spokesperson Rob Graham, the fire had also spread to brush in the area that had to be extinguished before it could spread into nearby grassland.

The occupant of the cabin was present at the time of the fire, and attempted to put out the fire themselves, however the garden hose they had available did not have enough to provide meaningful fire suppression.

He received treatment for smoke inhalation and minor burns at the scene, said Graham.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at the moment and remains under investigation.

Two engines, two water tenders, an officer vehicle and a bush truck all responded to the fire and were on scene for about two hours.
