Borrowing allowed for 911 emergency communications improvements

It appears that there wasn’t much interest amongst residents in the RDOS to fight approval of the 911 emergency loan authorization.

It appears that there wasn’t much interest amongst residents in the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen to fight approval of the 911 emergency loan authorization.

The deadline for the Alternate Approval Process, by which a response of 10 per cent of the voters would result in the need for a referendum on the borrowing, passed on July 2 with only 63 elector response forms submitted.

At least 6,884 responses would have been necessary to trigger a referendum on the issue.

The loan authorization involves the borrowing of 1.6 million dollars in order to fund upgrades to the regional district’s 911 emergency communications system.
