B.C. Transit is bringing in bigger buses for two routes in the South Okanagan.
The larger, medium-duty buses will serve to improve the reliability and efficiency of the two routes connecting Osoyoos and Penticton.
The buses will replace the smaller light-duty buses that currently run on route 40 from Osoyoos to Penticton and the Osoyoos local route 41 and will arive in the coming days according to the release issued on March 26.
These larger buses will also support the current enhanced safety requirement for customers to maintain physical distancing on buses where possible.
B.C. Transit also wants to remind customers of their current face-covering policy on buses and at bus shelters, and thank everyone for their ongoing support of this important mandate.
The schedules and bus stop locations for service along these two routes will not be impacted by this change. For full route and schedule information, you can go to https://www.bctransit.com/south-okanagan-similkameen/home.
B.C. Transit is also still gathering feedback from the public on how to improve transit across the entire South Okanagan Similkameen region.
The feedback will be used to identify priorities for a future action plan that will guide decision making, service and infrastructure improvements.
The plan will be developed by B.C. Transit, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen, the City of Penticton, Towns of Princeton, Osoyoos and Oliver, the District of Summerland and the community Okanagan Falls.
The survey is being held online and runs until April 15.
