The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen will be flushing the water mains in Olalla starting Jan. 27.

The flushing, which is expected to disrupt sediment in the pipes and potentially result in discoloured water, will last the week.

The flushing will not impact the chlorination of the water supply, which will continue for the time being with plans to be removed in the future.

The regional district’s public works crews will make efforts to remove any discoloured water, but a public notice advises that it may persist and to just run the taps until the water turns clear.

The regional district is also advising residents to minimize the amount of hot water used to limit the amount of sediment potentially settling in the hot water tank.

For concerns or more information, residents are asked to contact RDOS's utilities department during regular business hours at 250-490-4135.

For after-hours emergencies, contact RDOS regional dispatch instead at 250-490-4141.
