Update: 1:15 p.m.
According to a local resident, the helicopter dropped off two individuals before returning to circling in the area.
“We just saw a helicopter come in and then take off again,” said Marisa Leboe, who lives nearby. “We could see there were people on the end of it, then it came down, and when it came up again it was empty.”
Following the helicopter’s deployment, the stranded victim was able to be removed.
The individual has been rescued from the area, and transferred to a waiting ambulance. His current condition is not known.

Penticton Search and Rescue and RCMP are on the scene with an individual who is trapped in the hills above the city.
At 10:23 this morning (Jan. 19), a call came in for a cliff-face rescue in the area of Saliken Drive in Penticton.
RCMP has made contact with the victim, who is reported to be conscious, but injured.
A helicopter has been dispatched to provide support.
