The Keremeos RCMP detachment is reminding motorists to be on the lookout for wildlife this time of year.

Cpl. Brian Evans said in the last week four motorists have reported they hit deer either on the Highway near Cawston or on Highway 3A.

“We just want to remind people it’s that time of year and the deer are out moving around. They’re crossing the highway lots so watch your speed and make sure you pay attention to the side of the road. Sometimes they cause significant damage or injury to the driver or passengers,” he said.

He also noted that in the last month three bears have been hit and killed on Green Mountain Road and Yellow Lake Road.

“We just want people to watch for wildlife in general,” he said.
