Forty years is a lot of sandwiches.

Two members of the Keremeos chapter of the Royal Purple recently received 40-year membership acknowledgement. Colleen Christensen and Hildred Finch were recognized at a recent ceremony for their more than four decades each (80 years combined) worth of service to the Royal Purple and to the community.

The Royal Purple does a variety of things in the community including catering for funerals, celebrations, holiday dinners and the recent Fireman’s Appreciation Dinner.

The group raises money through catering to help others in the community through their bursary program and a number of different initiatives.

The Royal Purple also organizes Handbags for Hope, which connects women in need with a handbag and necessities like toothbrushes, soap and skin care products.

The Royal Purple also works closely with the Keremeos Elks and helps to run the weekly Bingo at Elks Hall and members are always on-hand every May long weekend down at the rodeo grounds helping in the concession booth.
