Kevin Klippenstein has announced his intention to run for the Conservative Party of Canada in the next federal election. Three others have also put their names up for the candidacy.

Kevin Klippenstein of Cawston has thrown his hat into the ring to be the Conservative Party of Canada's candidate in the next federal election.

Klippenstein is the co-founder of Klippers Organics and several other businesses in the Similkameen Valley.

In the news release announcing his nomination for the candidacy, Klippenstein noted that he had welcomed CPC leader Pierre Poilievre in November to visit Klippers and hear from local farmers on issues they are facing.

"This is a pivotal moment for our riding," Klippenstein said in his release. "I’m stepping forward because our region deserves representation that truly understands the heartbeat of our communities—our farmers, families, industries and small business owners. Together, we can create real-life solutions that respect our values, grow our economy, and protect the incredible natural environment we call home."

Klippenstein is one of four currently running nominees for the candidacy, and is up against Chris Pequin, Gary Johal and former BC Liberal MLA Dan Ashton.

The Conservative candidate will run for the position of MP in the Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenary riding in the next federal election, currently scheduled to occur by Oct. 20, 2025 but likely much sooner.

The federal NDP and Liberal parties have not yet announced any candidates for the riding.
