A Keremeos businesswoman has thrown her hat in the ring for the upcoming provincial election in the Boundary-Similkameen riding.
Donegal Wilson was announced by the BC Conservatives as the party's candidate to challenge incumbent BC NDP MLA Roly Russell.
Wilson is now the third name on the ballot for the riding, with former Oliver mayor Ron Hovanes running as the candidate for BC United.
Born in Summerland and raised on a cattle ranch in the Otter Valley near Tulameen, Wilson graduated from Princeton Secondary and moved to northwest B.C. for community college, beginning her career in administration.
Wilson currently lives in Keremeos with her husband, where they own and operate Direct Performance, a small engine business.
Since 2012, Wilson has also served as the executive director for the BC Snowmobile Federation.
"Growing up in Tulameen and living in the Similkameen Valley, I've always been deeply connected to our land, our people, and our way of life," said Wilson in a press release. "From growing up on a cattle ranch to working in small businesses and leading the BC Snowmobile Federation, my journey has been all about community, hard work, and standing up for what matters. Now, I’m ready to take that commitment to the next level."
