Okanagan Mascot Games returning to Penticton this July

The fur is going to fly when the Okanagan Mascot Games kick off in Penticton this July.

The second annual Okanagan Mascot Games will welcome representatives from across North America to Penticton from July 19 to 26.

Fin from the Vancouver Canucks, the Dallas Stars’ Victor E. Gree, Arizona Coyotes’ Howler, Pacific Football Clubs Stewie, and the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships’ Cooly are just a few of the 24 mascots who will be competing against each other to be champion of the mascot world.

HarVee, as well as the West Kelowna Warriors’ The General and Kelowna Rockets’ Rocky will represent local teams at the competition.

Mascots will compete against each other in a variety of crazy & fun games, including an obstacle course, mascot speedway, bull riding, dance battle and an inflatable joust.

On the promenade leading to the games, there will be a community festival featuring games, face painting, and local non-profits. There will also be meet-and-greet opportunities with the mascots.

Beacon the Beaver and the Beacons Furry FUNdation Society host the games, and Beacons for Hope plush beavers will be on sale to raise funds for Okanagan food banks.

Tickets for the games on July 25 and 26 go on sale Friday, Feb. 28. Adult tickets are $15 Senior and youth tickets are $15, and a family pack of two adults and two youth tickets is $63.

Tickets and meet-and-greet packages are also available, with tickets $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and youth, and family packs $75. Tickets available in person at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC, over phone at 1-877-SOEC-TIX (763-2849), or online at ValleyFirstTix.com.

Okanagan Mascot Games will also host an online auction as a fundraiser for Beacons Furry FUNdation. The auction will be held onsite at the South Okanagan Events Centre over the two days of featuring items from participating mascots and local businesses.
