Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the entire southern interior.

Daytime temperatures could reach high 30s and low 40s through the beginning of the week.

People are encouraged to stay inside with air conditioning, check on friends and family who are more vulnerable to the heat, and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Those without air conditioning can use public spaces like malls and libraries to cool down.

Environment Canada is also reminding people to never leave pets or children in the car as the heat can be fatal.

High temperatures are expected to persist until Thursday morning (July 11).
