The SkyHawks, Canada’s only military parachute team, have confirmed they will perform at the 70th annual Penticton Peach Festival this summer.

They join the iconic Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Canadian Forces CF-18 Hornet fighter jet which also will entertain the crowds as they soar above Okanagan Lake Park on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

“What a great way to kick off the 70th anniversary of Peach Festival. Having this type of a show on opening night is going to be incredible,” said Peach Festival president Don Kendall. “It will make for a great opening night with headliner 5440 taking the main stage later that evening.”

The SkyHawks are the premier parachute demonstration team of the Canadian Armed Forces. Established in 1971, the team already has more than 5,000 successful jumps that have dazzled more than 75 million spectators throughout the world.

Bringing their parachutes in close proximity to build formations in the sky, the team puts on a spectacular show. Performing these aerobatic parachute formations requires a high level of skill and courage; and is known as Canopy Relative Work.

This will be the eighth visit to Penticton by the Snowbirds, they were last here for the 2015 Peach Fest. All three of these acts are coming to the Penticton Peach Festival thanks to the generous support of Dave Kampe of Peters Bros. Construction.

More details on the show will be posted to www.peachfest.com as they become available.
