A love for live jazz music will be celebrated in Penticton for the first time in two years this September.

The Pentastic Jazz Festival is officially coming back on September 9 after two-year hiatus, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lifted border restrictions will result in a welcome to a number of U.S.-based bands that haven’t been able to perform to the South Okanagan audience in two years.

The festival, which will end on September 11, announced this year’s lineup this week.

• Memphis Speed Kings

• Dave Bennett Quartet

• Tom Rigney & Flambeau

• GROOVUS-(Holland, Coots and Pikel)

• Professor Cunningham and the Old School

• Holy Crow

• Carl Sonny Leyland Four

• Black Swan Jazz Band

• Gator Nation

• South Okanagan Big Band

The festival hasn’t been able to proceed since 2019.

“Let the good times roll again!” organizers said. “After a two-year fight with COVID, we are back.”

People interested in attending the festival are encouraged to book their tickets in advance at valleyfirsttix.com.
