Route 97 Culture is bringing live music to four venues in the South Okanagan.

Route97 Culture’s latest initiative is to bring together businesses, academic institutions, Indigenous organizations and other community members. The results are 64 live music performances coming to 19 locations across the Okanagan with funding from Creative BC.

In Penticton, Cleland Theatre and Dream Cafe are two partners, and in Oliver, Venables Theatre and Covert Farms are the two partner venues.

Penticton Art Gallery curator Paul Crawford is one of the promoters tapped as part of the project, alongside Mandy Wheelwright of Blister Management, and project co-lead Mark Greenhalgh of Misty Mountain Productions, along with Julie Fowler, Kate Wattie, Tori Jewell, Deb Beaton-Smith, Matt Rands and Greg Curtis.

The aim of the project is to grow and develop the province’s music ecosystem and to build a stronger interconnected network of promoters and venues in the Interior.
