Headlined by the popular Snakebite Film Festival, it's set to be a busy weekend in Penticton.

Here's what's happening from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2:

Snakebite Film Festival (Jan. 31 to Feb. 2)

The festival returns for its seventh year this weekend, as Landmark Cinemas and Cleland Theatre host films until Sunday.

Nine independent films will be shown, including the winner of January's five-day film challenge at Cleland Theatre on Feb. 1.

Full festival passes are sold out, according to valleyfirsttix.com. Single-film tickets can be purchased here.

Among the films set to be shown include Mamma Mia: The Movie - Sing Along! and Wild Goat Surf.

Indigenous Night at SOEC (Jan. 31)

It's Indigenous Night at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Friday, as the Penticton Vees host the Cowichan Valley Capitals in BCHL action.

A special pre-game ceremony featuring the High Water Drum Group and the Okanagan Song performed by Anona Kampe, Wynona Paul, and Whitney Cardenas will proceed on Friday. The Vees will also be wearing specialty-designed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game, in support of the Orange Shirt Society.

The event is hosted by the BCHL club, in conjunction with the Penticton Indian Band. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

'Pucks for Paws' as Vees host Bandits (Feb. 1)

When the Vees host the Brooks Bandits on Saturday, a trio of local animal charities will be accepting donations at the rink.

"Puck for Paws" night comes to the SOEC from 6 to 8 p.m.

Paws it Forward Non-Profit Dog Rescue, AlleyCats Alliance, and Happy Tails Cat Rescue Society will be on the receiving end of donations. Cat and dog food, non-clay litter, blankets, towels, and toys will be accepted.

The Vees and Bandits, meanwhile, met on the ice last weekend, with Penticton coming out on top 2-1 in Alberta.

Puck drop is at 6 p.m.

Snowflake Ball Daddy-Daughter Dance (Feb. 2)

The Snowflake Ball Daddy-Daughter Dance comes to the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Sunday night.

According to the venue, the event is officially sold out.

From 4 to 7 p.m., guests will enjoy crafts, photos, dinner, dancing, and more.

Free show at Cannery Brewing (Feb. 2)

Okanagan's Lonely Company comes to Cannery Brewing's taproom on Sunday night.

Get ready to hear blues, reggae, soul and funk covers from 5 to 7 p.m., according to the venue.

There is no cover charge.
