Those hoping to make the most out of summer’s last long weekend have plenty of things to do in the South Okanagan starting Friday night.

One last “Music in the Park” in Osoyoos (Sept. 2)

Park your lawn chairs at Osoyoos’ Gyro Park one last time this summer and get ready to dance because Music in the Park returns Friday with the Broadway Belles.

Anne Ramey, Beth Scott, Lisa Baxter-Burke, Sarah Senecal, and Troe Weston wrap up the town’s outdoor music series starting at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

Inaugural Peachland Making Waves Mural Festival (Sept. 3 to 4)

Though not in the South Okanagan, the first-ever edition of this festival promises to “make waves” across the Interior.

Featuring live music, an open-air dance fusion experience and interactive street performances, the festival hopes to celebrate everything the arts have to offer.

Festivities take place at the Peachland Community Centre and Cousins Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., from Sept. 3 to 4.

All the action is free to attend at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Puck drop is at 5:30 p.m.

Penticton Vees go up against best-of-best in dragon boat racing (Sept. 4)

Following their intrasquad action Saturday, the Fred Page Cup champions will take to Skaha Lake on Sunday for a race against one of the city’s most experienced dragon boat teams.

Vees’ players and staff are set for competition against Survivorship, a dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors.

The day’s first race starts at 10:30 a.m.

The community is invited to come out and support both teams.
