The Cawston Players entertained the Cawston Community with another successful production with their latest play Barely Heirs, written by David Lassig.

The reputation of the Cawston Players is spreading and people travelled from Penticton, Oliver and Okanagan Falls to take in the performance.

Audiences were greeted with a wonderfully decorated entrance foyer curtesy of Therese Agasse and Marilyn Bergen, a magnificent set featuring four doors, a stair case, and an archway.

The set was constructed by John Hutchinson and amazingly brought to life by  well known local artist,Yako Dearburn.Local musicians Rob Robertson, Destin Lydiatt and Skye Martin entertained the audience and Crowsnest and Robin Ridge Wineries were on hand with their fine wines. Renate’s kitchen provided beautiful food. Wilfred Mennell was the lighting operator.

The play itself was a hilarious rendition of a comedic farce with lots of odd twists of the truth.Amanda Elyzen produced an incredible performance as the woman needing to create several pretend husbands to inherit a considerable amount of money. She was ably assisted with a strong performance by Jenna Sipponen playing her friend and her “husband” as well. The strong supporting cast consisted of Guy Sassville playing Amanda’s returning boyfriend, Paul, Corentin Caro Chambard as “nurse Jacky” (among other characters),Taina Sipponen as the police women, Eben Mckiblin as the  lawyer, William, and Gabriele Villecourt as Betty, Amanda’s mother.

The play was directed By Bob McAtamney and produced by Dave Cursons. Stage manager was Louise Giguere and Jacquine Manet was costume manager. The Cawston Players wish to thank the many people from the community who helped with the production. Over 270 people attended the four performances and to them we say thank you for supporting the creative actors in our community.
