This week is hot, too hot. The Penticton Western News has compiled a list of 5 ways to beat the heat in Penticton.
Go Jump In The Lake
Penticton is one of just two cities in the world that sits between two lakes, Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake. With kilometres of soft sand beaches, the two lakes are warm and welcoming and a great way to cool off for free.
Float the Channel
Penticton is lucky enough to have 6.4 km of a lazy river to enjoy of leisurely float. Just don’t forget to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen. The float from Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake takes about two to 2.5 hours.
Wibit
The floating water park is perfectly located on Okangan Lake beside the SS Sicamous where you can bounce, jump and slide around and cool off in the water while you are at it. There is a smaller version strictly for younger kids right out front and the larger water park for all ages.
Landmark Cinemas
Take in a movie and the cool air conditioning at Landmark movie theatre on Winnipeg Street. Currently playing is Thor: Love and Thunder, Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis, Where the Crawdads Sing, Minions: The Rise of Gru.
Or take in some shopping in the air conditioning of Cherry Lane Shopping Centre. There is also the walking track at the South Okanagan Events Centre if you are looking for some exercise or take in the library or museum.
Ice Cream
Nothing better than a waffle cone and ice cream to cool down with. In this kind of heat, how about ice cream for dinner?
With so many ice cream places to choose from in Penticton, you really only have to walk a block or less and find your favourite flavour whether it be bubble gum, salted caramel or classic chocolate.
