The 16th Annual “Home & Reno Show 2011” presented by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association South Okanagan, is a not-for-profit association of builders, suppliers, sub-trades, and other professionals who supply the housing needs of the South Okanagan.

On Saturday, February 12 the Community Club will be celebrating Valentine’s Day by hosting a fabulous dinner event, featuring cooking by Doug Bratt and Tom Leslie. The gentlemen have planned an extraordinary menu including a main course choice of: Santa Fe Chicken, Pork Medallions in rosemary cream sauce with toasted pistachios, or Danish Back Ribs in either greek or barbecue style; salad and veggies to complement the meal will also be served. And save room for the rice pudding.

For centuries, as astronomers have tried to cope with cloud and a turbulent atmosphere that made images swim like a penny on the bottom of a stream, they dreamed of having a telescope in space, above all the trouble. Now we have Hubble, and soon will have the James Webb Telescope. Space-based observations are a well-established part of modern astronomy. Why then do we still invest large amounts of money on building and operating telescopes on the ground?
