A Cawston-based band’s new song about farm life in the community is all the rage among locals.

The song “Apple Blossom Glory” was posted to Youtube Jan. 12 by the Okanagan band The Organic Humans. In the song, the band’s lead singer Margaret Macdonald croons about the wonders of organic farming.

The six-piece band, consisting of lead vocalist and song-writer Margaret (Maggie) Macdonald, guitarist Elam Wilms, bassist and support vocalist Fritz Cronjaeger, drummer Doug Vincent, John Butcher on trumpet and percussionist Sheryl Tarves has been writing songs and performing in the Okanagan for six years.

Before the pandemic, the band would frequently play shows at venues in Cawston, Keremeos and Penticton.

Macdonald said she was inspired to write the song last year after someone suggested the band write a song about organic farming after a local show, seeing as each band member is involved in organic farming.

“The song celebrates the simple things of life like family and making sure to be grateful for those special moments,” Macdonald said. “It’s not just about organic farming, it’s about slowing down and actually just being present.”

The song will be featured in an upcoming documentary about organic farming called “The Hands That Feed Us” by filmmaker Devon Cooke.

The band will also be holding a Valentine’s Day Facebook live event Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.
