The Village of Keremeos is hoping to find answers and speak to whoever has been periodically dumping waste in the Village’s trash cans.

A community notification was issued Thursday requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the individual.

“We have so many questions; that’s not where it goes,” said Marg Coulson, the Village’s chief administrative officer. “This started in November. It just seems to be a pattern now, so we feel we need to correct the situation.”

The Village hopes to find the person responsible so they can inform them of where they can take the waste, instead of dumping it in Village trash cans.

“What we’re hoping to do with the notice is to get the residents here as eyes and ears,” said Coulson. “Just to catch whoever’s doing it and ask them if they would go to the Sani-dump instead. “

Sewage waste, such as what is being dumped in the trash cans, can be taken for disposal at the Sani-dump in Keremeos at 741 Veterans Way.

Dumping is by donation, so if the individual cannot afford to pay, they can still get rid of their waste safely and properly.

Any resident with information on the dumping is asked to contact the Village office at 250-499-2711 or cao@keremeos.ca to assist in their investigation.
