The Summerland Fall Fair Society has received a sponsorship cheque for $750 from the Summerland Credit Union.

Erin Trainer of the Credit Union said the donation to the fall fair is given annually. The Summerland Fall Fair, a celebration of agriculture in the community, will be held Sept. 6 and 7 in Summerland.

The fair began in 1909 and continued for the next 105 years. Then, in early June, 2015, after a month of uncertainty, organizers chose not to hold the fair. Financial uncertainty and a shortage of board members were among the reasons the fair was cancelled.

The fair was cancelled for three years, but in 2018, as a result of a growing interest within the community, the fair was brought back.

The fair last year was smaller than in the past, with fewer categories, but organizers expect it will grow.
