The Penticton Art Gallery is more than $20,000 richer after its annual Soup Bowls Project on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15.
More than a dozen different local restaurants and organizations provided their best broths, chowders and soups for the two nights of the sold-out event.

“It was great because so many new restaurants got to showcase their delicious food and so it was a great way to promote themselves. It supports our local food industry,” said the gallery’s collections and communications manager, McKaila Ferguson.
At the event, guests sampled 10 to 12 amazing soups. Penticton and Summerland Potters’ Guilds both donated beautifully crafted bowls participants took home.
“It feels nice to do something for the community, from our little guild at the Leir House,” said Jane Merrit, one of the lead potters. “It’s fun, it keeps us all focused on a project we can do together.”

The winner of the first night went to the Nautical Dog’s Chowder, while Smugglers Smokehouse took home the second night’s top honour.
The event raises money for gallery events and programming, including Little Leonardos Pro-D Day Camps, Creative Kids Summer Art Adventures, Young@Art and many more.
