SESS hosts grade six DARE graduation event

The classes of Mrs. Johnson and Ms. Fyall graduated from their DARE program on March 13


Similkameen Elementary Secondary School’s grade six classes were awarded their DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) diplomas during a one hour ceremony at the school on March 13.

The student gathered in the elementary school gym along with local political dignitaries to watch student skits depicting lessons learned from the DARE program about making sensible choices in partaking of drugs, cigarettes and alcohol. The presentations were presented by student Masters of Ceremony Sofia Zebroff and Jada Bottemiller.

Assistant Constable Troyce Beglaw  was singled out byseveral speakers for his instrumental role in bringing the DARE program to the school.

Students also heard congratulatory messages from local MP Alex Atamanenko, Penticton RCMP Inspector Brad Haugli and Mrs. Patt Vermiere, who passed along a message on behalf of MLA John Slater.

 

Students all received a certificate following which cake was served.
