Marissa Buckley, her volleyball coach, described her as kind and supportive, and beyond athletic ability as a great teammate. With COVID-19, it’s been a difficult year with little competition between schools, but she has made the most of it.
Brown enjoys her classes and understands what it means to comprehend what is being taught. If she struggles, she is willing to reach out to her teachers or friends and she’s not afraid to speak up either to give an opinion or ask for help.
Brown would tell you she is not academic, but she has begun to excel in all of her academic classes thanks to her competitive nature pushing her forward.
Brown grew up with two older brothers and a younger sister, and has quietly competed against them since she was small.
The Rotary Club of Penticton Sunrise understands the importance of our community’s youth and wishes to recognize outstanding students for unique combinations of achievement in scholastics, extracurricular activities, community involvement, leadership and service to others.
The club works with Penticton Secondary School and Princess Margaret Secondary School to select students who have overcome problems, made significant gains in their lives and are examples for others to follow.
This initiative is made possible with the generous financial contribution from Gateway Casinos as part of their proactive involvement in wide ranging community service projects.
