Thanks to the generosity of the community, the Keremeos Royal Purple were able to collect a record amount of purses for women in need through the Lower Similkameen Community Services Society (LSCSS).
In total, 72 handbags were donated, besting last year’s total by 21.

“A big shout out to all the ladies from the Similkameen Valley for their generous donations of purses and toiletries. Thanks to the community we managed a new high of 72 purses, 21 more than last year,” said Ginny Bennett, a Keremeos Royal Purple member. “I would like to thank Aamir and Nikki at Keremeos Pharmasave for once again being a major sponsor for this program. This year, as well as toiletries, they gave us supplies to help keep the ladies safe from COVID-19.
“I would also like to thank Buy Low for supplying a buggy to put the donations in, Valley First Credit Union and the Keremeos Info Centre for allowing us to use their businesses as a drop off location.”
The Lower Similkameen Community Services Society will be handling the distribution of the purses to women in need.
