Ice is starting to form on Okanagan Lake.
Pancake ice can be seen along the shoreline as well as sheets of ice as daytime temperatures hover around -6 degrees Celsius. Wednesday and Thursday night are expected to be the coldest at -18 degrees.
Environment Canada says that the frigid conditions will continue to move throughout the B.C. Interior, with temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below the seasonal average.
Kevin, the broken winged goose remains at Okanagan Lake and appears to be doing OK, considering the weather.

A prolonged winter chill hung over the Okanagan last January into February, with daily temperatures as low as -17 degrees. Some schools in SD67 kept kids inside during lunch when the windchill was -20 or colder.
In 2019, ice volcanoes formed on Okanagan Lake, often ‘erupting’ when waves came in.
In 2017, the lake actually froze over allowing people to skate on it.
