Penticton’s own community radio station at CFUZ 92.9 FM blew past their fundraising goal for their second On-Air-Versary.
At the end of Feb. 6, with a day of special programming, Penticton’s own Peach City Radio raised more than double their $4,000 goal with $8,045.
The On-Air-Versary celebrated the station’s second year broadcasting across the airwaves with a day filled with special programming and rolling announcements of donators and funds raised.
At the end of the day, they had well surpassed their 2021 goal, and more than cleared the first On-Air-Versary’s fundraising total of $5,192. The first On-Air-Versary also kicked off with a $4,000 goal.

The funds go towards the operating costs of broadcasting over the airwaves, training volunteers who make the programming at the station, and to expanding the range of programming available.
Last year, with the funding from a community arts grant, the station began inviting local artists to record their music in the studio as part of their Caught in the Act programming.

Due to COVID-19, the station was unable to run their Okanagan Vinyl Fest fundraiser in 2020. With the pandemic hitting shortly after their February anniversary, the station had to make due with only the one fundraising event.
For people who want to support the community station, CFUZ is still accepting donations until midnight on Feb. 10.
Local businesses have also offered up gift certificates and products for larger donations. The full list of items available can be found on the radio station’s website at Peach City Radio.org.
From progressive rock to folk music to jazz and the blues, the station has a wide range of music and non-musical programming. A weekly show is dedicated to the community of Naramata, and there are syndicated shows on news and public affairs. Peach City Radio is based out of The Cannery.
