Pack your lunch, open your ears and get ready for a historical journey across the world because the Brown Bag Lecture Series is back in Penticton starting Sept. 20.
The city’s museum is hosting its flagship lecture gathering during lunch hours on Tuesday for the next 12 weeks, after a more than five-month break over the summer.
Headlined by local speakers, lectures will feature discussions about history, arts and untold tales on both a local and provincial scale.
Lunchtime gatherings will run from Sept. 20 to Dec. 6.
“We will travel around from Northeast British Columbia to Japan to Summerland and Kelowna this season,” the museum wrote about the topics that will be explored during the series. “We’ll travel back in time from ancient Egypt and to more modern times when homesteading was more commonplace in B.C.”
Among the speakers featured this fall include Penticton Art Gallery curator Paul Crawford, First Things First leader Lori Goldman, Kim Palmer from the Okanagan School of Arts and Summerland crime author Susan McIver.
Late in 2021 and into January, the lecture series explored topics from early travel in the Okanagan to Penticton’s lake-to-lake bike lane.
Admission to the live talks is by donation.
