A number of proposed development projects in Penticton will be brought to the discussion table later this month and residents are invited to get in on the action.
Community members will have an opportunity to be part of the conversation on May 19 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre for a “Hot Topics Open House,” a night of discussion about the city’s latest proposed development initiatives.
Among those initiatives is the North Gateway Plan, which would revamp the look of the city’s north entrance. Staff and mayor John Vassilaki will lead the event with other discussions about the future of Penticton transportation and the new 84-unit development proposal on 435 Green Avenue West.
“With it being Local Government Awareness Week and National Public Works Week, this is a great opportunity to learn about how your city works and to ask staff about a variety of important and timely topics in the community,” Vassilaki said.
Though it is unrelated to the themes of development and transportation, the upcoming Oct. 15 municipal election will also be brought forward for discussion.
The city’s trade and convention centre, located on 273 Power Street, will host the event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Residents will also be invited to provide feedback on the drafting of a new bylaw about Development Cost Charges (DCC).
A conversation specifically about DCCs will be hosted at 5 p.m.
