Penticton officials have booked a renowned local musician to perform at the downtown launch of the city’s “pop-up-piano” program Wednesday (Aug.26).
City pianist, composer and music teacher Justin Glibbery, will be tickling the ivories on the grand piano at Nanaimo Square, which will then be open to the public, stated Downtown Penticton Association executive director Lynn Allin.
The piano has been transformed into a ‘masterpiece’, by seven artists from the city’s Long Gallery & Studio, she added.
The hope is the program will enliven Penticton’s arts and culture scene, explained city bylaw supervisor Tina Siebert.
Allin stressed that association officials will be on hand to uphold social distancing at Wednesday’s ceremony, which she said will be broadcast live on the association’s Facebook page.
Glibbery is set to appear on stage next to the CIBC at noon tomorrow.
